Teaching Online

I thought the class offered a lot of helpful tips to engage students. I teach at a few online schools and it was a good reminder of different things I could be doing in the classroom. I like the analogy that we as online facilitators are directors.

In my on ground classes, I tend to use power point, but within my power point we stop and have discussion questions as well as activities so it breaks the information up. In my online classes, I provide videos and journal articles and ask the students to reflect on their reaction. I also… >>>

Reflection and Action Plan

My school has presented us with active learning strategies repeatedly at our in-services. I do think that theories don't have much meaning until they are applied. Since I teach accounting, I have to introduce the theory. In my F2F classes, I then go immediately into examples. First, we demonstrate an example as a class, and then the students break into groups and work on a second application. I find the group based learning to be very beneficial. I provide my online students with video demonstrations, but I need to find ways to implement the group based learning into my online classes.… >>>

On Line Teaching

This was my first exposure to on line teaching, the course was informative and well put together. I felt overwhelmed because I wanted to see how much more can this course teach me all at one time. I feel that computer technology is moving to fast for me, by the time I become fascinated to learn a new softeware a new change is being implemented.

Group sessions

I think it is very important to have online students interact with one another on a regular basis.  I do plan on using virtual labs, Skype and other social streams to incorportate the feel of a "real" classroom.

Communication within an online course

I really found the EL112 course very information.  I plan to implement many of the communication techniques discussed within my course.

Outcomes vs. Expectations

I was reminded how effective online learning can be.

EL104 - Teaching and Organizing a Virtual Learning Environment

This course has given me more knowledge to teach in my virtual learning environment and understand the importance of organizing my course content. I also learned about the important role technology tools play in teaching and organizing an online course while learning the difference between synchronous and asynchronous learning. This course was a blessing. Thank you

EL103 - Teaching Online: A Student-Centered Approach

I plan you use the information from this course to teach, assess, and revise my online course/class. During this course I learned how to develop an assessment plan including self- and peer-assessment as you progress through the course. I’m am excited to apply the new ideas I learned for a better student-centered learning class, with activities and intellectual interactions using a variety of technology tools.

Technology, Here I Come!

I am very excited about continued work in online education.  I believe that for better or worse, that's where education is going.  I hope that I can make some positive contributions.
