I feel like most students choose to take online courses because its easier to fit into their schedule, they can work on their course when they have the time and complete the assignments when they can. If there is too much live sychronous expectations if could hurt a student who is a working professional.  I could see having a live questions and answer session to help students who may have a problem. Or even a review for an exam. But I think too much would be harmful. 

There are many different tools online instructors can use. It is important when chosing what to incorporate into your class to make sure the tech. is user friendly, has a purpose, and has meaning in the lesson.

It's helpful for instructors in a small class to understand how each student is different and how each student learns based on their pesronaliyt.

I have learnred about the different teaching methods, and I can say the teachers that I had that just was about giving the lectures was not my most favorite courses. I really enjoyed teachers who were more of a coach with the information and the ones who helped connect you with the information. 

It is a great guide to see what someone personality is through a test when starting to work together on a team. However, of course that is not possible in everyday life, but it is vital to look how someone reacts and play to their personality to work together. 

Rentention can be as easy as helping students feel connected to their enviroment and community. Sometimes a deeper investigation needs to be done to see where the issues is at in order to save a student from failing. 

Being able to commicate on a personal interested and kind level is always appreciated. It is important to be positive, know what you are talking about with the student and make them feel engaged.

Putting in different types of techonlogy can be very helpful, be careful not to put too many different systems in because it could be overwhelming to new online learners. 

Most people who chose to take online courses are non-traditional adult learners. They like the easy, they are taking it part time, and they are probably doing it to further their career. Some adults need to re-learn how to be a student so its importatnt they focus on the 7 areas of problems to help they succeed. 

Retention matters if a students feels connected to their environment and to the people in the instituion. Its important to monitor and track students who are not involved or just doing enough to get by to prevent any losses.
