Gloria, What a wonderful idea! With the tracking and communications you're already having to do, you should have an easier time at meeting this standard. Thanks for posting that! Best, Angie Myer

Cassandra, Thanks for posting; that sounds great! How do you evaluate the students? Do you include the client feedback, instructor observation, "professionalism"? Do you have specific checklists or points to evaluate the course objectives? The Commissioners like to see how schools are documenting the students' proficiency of the standards. Best, Angie Myer

Hi Gloria, Welcome to the forum! Thanks for the detailed description of clinic. As far as the clinic course objectives and evaluation methods, are they evaluated primarily on their notes, interactions with clients, quality of massage, or some other business-related objectives? We've even seen schools that integrate case studies and the research competencies into clinic. It's fun to see all the variations. Best, Angie Myer

Hi Cassandra, I am sure there are other participants who can understand your frustrations with our demographic of students, and with the USDE's increased emphasis on completion rates, default rates, and gainful employment, it has become even more frustrating. Are there specific steps that your school has had to implement to advise, counsel, and support your students in being less "flaky"? Best, Angie Myer

Gloria, Completely understandable and the reason why schools move to Title IV. Of course, as you may have noticed from others' posts that financial aid offers its own set of challenges. Good luck to you as you negotiate these economic times! Best, Angie Myer

Charisse , Thank you so much for sharing this piece as an example for perfectly-aligned assessments to the competencies. And the best part is that the assessments themselves ensure better learning for the students...and better employability later: another win-win! Best, Angie Myer

Charisse , Impressive description! I can't wait to see it! Make sure that this process is not only described in your narrative SSR, but there is also the documentation of the review and revision process to substantiate. Good luck, Angie Myer

Charisse , There are stipulations that the financial aid officer can work from if it's a true estrangement; unfortunately, it's still a pretty strict definition on what qualifies. I was always upset about it too, until I realized that from the perspective of the taxpayer, we would much rather have the parents taking responsibility for their own children before we have to, right? Of course, that doesn't comfort the student. A lot of schools have instituted their own payment plans to help in this case. Can that help your students? Angie Myer

Charisse , Wonderful! Thanks for chiming in. Best, Angie Myer

Charisse , Please let us know if you need clarifications and assistance during this process. Having a team of people is so beneficial to the process since it is cumbersome. And it's wonderful if there is a central business/compliance office responsible. However, as I have learned from personal experience, it is often essential to have one person still be responsible for collecting all the responses and writing the narrative to ensure that it is a coherent report. Too often we have seen (and it happened at my school) that department experts were not equipped to actually write the narratives sufficiently… >>>
