I like the joint problem solving process and incorporating mutual communication during the process as well as reflective practice to fully engage the learner.

I think the Just-in-Time method could enhance a flipped classroom by providing an opportunity for the instructor to review learner responses before the F2F class time to determine areas of comprehension vs those that need more clarification and developing in-class activities that will help clarify and better help learneres meet the class outcomes/goals.  I can see where there would be a learning curve for the instructor in figuring out how much time would be needed to effectively read through all of the responses, depending on the class size, and develop the right in-class activities in a short period of time.

I appreciated the information about Understanding by Design.  Starting with the outcome or goals of the class in mind and then figuring out which assessments to use and finally developing the learning activities is a great way to ensure that the learning activities and assessments will actually meet the goals of the class by the end of the semester.  I find myself often starting with reviewing text books and developing lesson plans, which makes it harder to ensure that outcomes are actually being met.  I can definitely see how the UdB method would be more effective.

This module provides great information about the pros and cons of each type of assessment question including ease of grading and the level of depth of understanding (according to Bloom's taxonomy) that is really being assessed.

Plan and know what questions should be asked.  Provide students sufficient time to properly respond to the question.  Encourage student participation by complimenting their participation, effort, and answers.  Provide more leading questions to help a student arrive at the correct answer if they initially provide an incorrect response.

This module provided great recommendations for effectively using technology in the classroom.  Because most of our students will have grown up immersed in technology, we need to take the time to understand, use, and appropriately apply that technology in the classroom after determining how and if it will help us effectively meet the lesson and class objectives.

Having a well-thought out and structured lesson plan with engaging activities and clear objectives from start to finish will increase student participation, motivation, and learning.

I appreciated the information on the technology available and open educational resources that can make implementing the flipped classroom a little easier.

I appreciated the information about the various learning theories and models that informed and validate the use of the flipped classroom.  It helped to solidify for me the sound reasoning for using this method and the many advantages to implementing it in the classroom.

The flipped classroom can require more time up front from the instructor to prepare/create effective on-line learning modules or pre-recorded videos, but it creates more opportunities for deeper learning, as described by Bloom's taxonomy, in the classroom and can result in positive outcomes for both the student and the instructor.
