Nick, Stories are great. They capture attention, and usually, students can relate to (and therefore remember) key portions of the message. Barry Westling
Meri, Yes, and being approachable and patient is like the icing on the cake, that promotes students wanting to participate, ask questions, and engage. These traits are attributes any instructor can provide. Barry Westling
Nick, Yeah, it's said "we have only one chance to make a good first impression". We should make the best of each instruction event. Barry Westling
Manuel, Yeah, that would be ideal. But even if not, all instructors should be able to display enthusiasm, interest, passion and sincerity in the delivery of course content. Barry Westling
Manuel, Good point. The more organized the instructor is the more likely students will be receptive to and retain pertinent course content. Barry Westling
Meri, You've touched an extremely important tenet, that is conveying we care about each student, their education, and our readiness to deliver the content in the most competent and confident manner. Barry Westling
MacDameon, For sure. Fine tuning a class helps instructors achieve better student outcomes, and one way to fine tune is based on results from a pretest. Barry Westling
Valerie, Sure. Forging ahead without knowledge of progress made can have less than wanted results, like a vessel just a bit off course out in the ocean, over time, the destination becomes unreachable. Barry Westling
Valerie, Yes, just as when at completion of a course we want to measure learning, pretesting gives us a sense of readiness to begin instruction, or progress made in that pursuit. Barry Westling
Curtis , Right. Cultivating respect, trust, and credibilty result, in part, from being fully ready for class every session. Barry Westling
