Much of this was very applicable about 2011 when I was creating my own course shells in Moodle, however that format is locked down now by the school.

I really like the idea of a survey to determine a student's competency with just the technology of online courses.

I'm encouraged that our course structures support the information presented here.

While I think some aspects of the in-classroom environment translate to online, I don't think some of the synchronous activities work well for large classes.

We need a course on the LMS - not sure if that is done at my universtiy.

Being an adjunct that only teaches online this was a little difficult to relate to.

I was glad to see the information on the Distance Learning because many of my institution's rules seem to come from that DOE determination.

The policies around security are fairly standard.  I work at a healthcare insurance company and there is a lot of focus on protection of personal identifiable information - just like at an educational institution.  I was surprised that a student who is also an employee essentially gives up their rights to the FERPA access as it appears being an employee overrules -if I understood it.

As an online adjunct, I don't see occasion where I would personally apply the FERPA regulations but I do see the importance of such regulations for the student.

As an adjunct faculty member, I don't see this impacting me directly, and even moreso as an online instructor.  But - I do understand the need.  I question the example of notes taken by a predecessor that are passed to a successor not being excluded from student's rights to view.
