Victor , Yes, finding out about what motivates the prospective student to pursue a career in the field is the best way to go. Donna Guisado
Victor , These are good and very common questions all prospective students have. Making sure that you have the most up to date information and knowledgeable support team at your school is the best way to provide the student with the answers to their questions. Donna Guisado
Victor , You can connect to the BPPE website and receive information emails from them about any changes. There are also many good publications made available that can help. If your school is a member of CAPPS, they have many good sources of information that help our California schools keep up with the changes. Your school is most likely nationally or regionallay accredited, and those agencies also can provide you with up to date information. Connect to those websites for the best information. Donna Guisado

Victor , Yes, we do have to be careful that we are giving the correct information to our prospective students. Usually, if you can refer them to the catalog, or to the appropriate department that handles the area they have questions about, that is your best bet. Generally, we want to be sure that we are not providing students with any false statements or misleading them about the programs your school provides. Checking on information before you respond, or letting the most knowledgeable person respond is best. Donna Guisado
Gil, It is impressive that your team is involved to that degree with reviewing and drafting of policy and catalog changes. This will most definitely keep your team informed and up to date on regulatory changes. Donna Guisado

Phyllis, We do have to be so careful Phyllis, and sometimes we can almost feel restricted in what can or cannot say! I think the best advice is to just be honest with the student about your program, it's length, it's cost, etc. and always refer to your catalog and/or website. It is also acceptable to tell a student "I don't know, but let me find out", as there are always support people (such as financial aid, your campus director or president, or your admissions director or supervisor) who are there to provide you with the information and support you… >>>

Giovanni, Great question, and they really cannot substantiate or prove the small class size claim. As an instructor, I consider 15 to be a fair size class. Very often, different accrediting bodies, such as nursing, have very strict requirements for the student to faculty ratios that are allowed. Being familiar with these different requirements can often answer the question of whether or not a class is large or small. I think it is better to stay clear of making claims about class sizes for the very reasons you state here: compared to what? Donna Guisado
maria, That's a good answer Maria, as they have to work hard to get a job. We can give them the skills to help them do the job, but they have to do the work to get and KEEP the job, right? Always be sure to tell your prospects that you can only offer job placement assistance...its very important that you never guarantee them a job. Sounds like you are very positive and motivating for your students. Good stuff! Donna Guisado
Giovanni, It is absolutely appropriate. That is the best place to refer them to for answers to those types of questions, precisely because there is no specific answer! Salaries can vary greatly, we all know that is the reality, but we cannot withhold information from our prospective students. It sounds like you have a supportive team and you can probably already see the importance of admissions and financial aid working closely together to provide the most accurate information possible to the students. Giovanni, What part do you play, as an admissions rep, in updating the policies and procedures? At the monthly meetings, what type of input are you providing? It is very important that you are involved in these things, and I think its great that your organization is doing this. Donna Guisado
