Nicole, Using our networks is always a good idea; you never know who can point you in the right direction. Elizabeth Kemler
Nicole, It sounds like you're offering some very useful guidance and support to help students prepare for their interviews. Elizabeth Kemler
Nicole, I agree that these kinds of skills are transferable and applicable in many different kinds of environments. Elizabeth Kemler
Nicole, I agree that it's easy to lose track. And yes, the five keys are definitely applicable in any work environment, and a helpful thing to have as a reference. Elizabeth Kemler
Mignonne, It certainly never hurts to engage students in the learning process this way; I also like to give them some of my own examples. Elizabeth Kemler
Mignonne, I like using video for this purpose; showing different interview styles is helpful as well. I also like videotaping students whenever possible. Elizabeth Kemler
Janice, I myself have to be constantly reminded of this virtual network..its easy to forget when they're not right in front of you. And the same goes for people you run into over the course of your average day; its always worth making mention of our job search-indeed, you never know! Elizabeth Kemler
Janice, I couldn't agree more. I have exercises I use to help students 'extract' their relevant experience from their background. They need to be reminded with hard evidence that they have developed relevant and applicable work-related skills and qualities. Elizabeth Kemler
Janice, This point hasn't come up until now but its a good one. Students can easily lose heart when they compare themselves to people who've been in the field longer than they have; reminding them of there potential to learn and grow should prove quite helpful Elizabeth Kemler
Connie, I also see regular self-evaluation as a valuable professional as well as personal tool. Elizabeth Kemler
