Lawrence, I once wrote an article about there are no magic swithches with anything. Your approach is along with the balance technique of facing stress. Everyone needs to balance for stress relief by using exercise, mental activity, relaxation, good health habits and spirituality. If a person can practice best practices in these areas they have a chance of beating off the bad stress.
Ralph, It is a very good practice to hear both sides of the story. We often get ourselves into a problem when we draw quick conculsions. Along with meeting with both parties there is a talent by the mediator that will be to have a cooling off period during the conversation.

Lana, Getting out and refreshing is a very good thing. We all need to step back once in awhile to create more energy for our approach to the challenge.
Crystal Setting ground rules is very important to keep in the time limits. I always assigned one person to give a 10 minute update on product knowledge about what their program was currently doing. All discussion should be kept on topic. Anyone getting off task should be brought back to the topic at hand.

Crystal, After several years of Chairing meetings this is the biggest interupter of a meeting. These often create side bar discussions. My experience can tell you without any reservation that the answer to this problem is to set meeting guidelines up front. Agenda topics will be attained to only. Anyone bringing up something that is not germain to the topic would not be discussed. We can table it until a later meeting or schedule or meet one on one. Anytime this may occur if we have set up the rules of the meeting we can state this is not germain… >>>
