About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Robert, This is how you serve your role as a role model as well as a learning leader. Good advice for all instructors to follow. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, Good idea. This is great training for when they are in the workforce. They need to develop the self discipline to be on time and in attendance each time the class meets because their employer will expect the same of them when they are working. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, A simple phrase like this can have a powerful impact on students, especially those that are a bit more shy about contributing in class. When they are reinforced they start to open up and become a part of the general discussions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, Very true so each student needs to feel a part of the class. Respect is a two way street so when you show them respect and work to earn theirs in return and strong foundation for learning is created. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Stephen, I agree and use them a lot in my classes as well. Real world experiences help to make the content come alive and increases the value of the course to students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Edward, The more connection you can make between the content being offered and the potential in their career field the more engaged your students will be. They start to see themselves as being in that field and this identity factor is powerful. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, I use games a lot in my classes as well and my students really like them. They work great when we are reviewing for upcoming tests. They find they know more than they think they do. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, Learning requires hard work and self discipline but this does not mean that learning cannot be fun for students. We need to incorporate strategies that engage students and capture their interest. This why your point is such a good one in relation to instructional planning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Stephen, Clear goals and objectives are essential if students are going to be able to see where the course is going to go and how they can attain success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, This is a great way to stay current in your field in terms of the content and best practices you bring to your students. They are getting cutting edge insight into their career area. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
