About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Beverly, I like your definition because it fits into my definition as well. I think the more formalized definition of intelligences does not give adequate credit to the problem solving and creativity abilities of individuals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sue Ellen, Listening is one of the most effective teaching tools that teachers can use. By listening you are not only learning but also showing students respect since you are willing to devote time to hear their input. This creates a foundation for rapport and that is what we are striving to have with our students throughout the duration of a course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Scott, Your students are going to appreciate your efforts to keep them engaged and focused on their learning efforts. This is how content retention is increased as well as student expertise. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dominick, Right you are about the value of brainstorming and the development of critical thinking skills. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dominick, Taking this approach reduces confusion and frustration on the part of students. They know from the beginning what the expectations are and how they can achieve success in the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Scott, Thank you for sharing this example because as it illustrates the first impression does make a major difference in how the students perceive the course and instructor. Based upon your experience I am guessing that this will never occur again and your future students will benefit from your planning and early arrival. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Vern, What are some examples you use to start your course off on the right foot? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Diane, This is a great resource for you and your fellow instructors. This helps to get all students on the same page and brings consistency to each course and program. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Scott, Love your enthusiasm for teaching and expanding your instructional expertise. You were provided some good resources to get you started and now you can take it to the next level. I wish you continued teaching success and may you have the opportunity to continue to impact the lives of your students and help them prepare for their career field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Matt, You have set out a good professional development plan for yourself. Observing other instructors is a great way to get new ideas and then incorporate them into your own instructional style. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
