About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Dawn, Like the strategy you are using in offering instruction to your students. This flow keeps your students engaged and the course moving forward. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, The more variety we offer our students in terms of instructional acquirement the better for the reasons you list. The more senses used and strategies employed by students the more information will be stored in their working memories for easier retrieval when needed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dawn, This is so important because a lot of learning is based upon both the personal and emotional aspects of knowledge acquirement. We need to help connect our content to both of these in our students as we work them through the material. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, I have a resource packet that I have developed for my course for the reason that you are developing one for your course. The packet lets me add or drop content based upon what is happening in the field each time I teach the course. This way I can use the textbook for foundational information and the resource packet for current content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dawn, Truly the power of a well developed syllabus for both you and your students. This gets everyone started off on the right foot in terms of course expectations. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dawn, Thank you for sharing your story with us as it will help other instructors that are trying to decide how to approach the delivery of their content. By reading students and getting to know their learning preferences you were able to provide targeted instruction in a relevant manner. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, I wish you much success with this effort. You are going to like the results you get I am sure. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nathan, Having had the opportunity to "play" with some of these mannequins I am amazed at how effective they are. You and your students are fortunate in deed that they are available for instruction and skill development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nathan, Repetition is a powerful learning tool and it needs to used in a variety of ways. You have shared a number of different ways that gets the students into the content and helps them learn it and use it and the repetition gets the content and skill sets stored in their working memories. This is what learning should be about. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
