About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Crystal, The first impression is the foundation upon which your status as a learning leader is built. You are right on with your comments about it needing to be a good one. This is how you start to earn the respect of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Angela, This is fun isn't it? When they see that the content being offered is relevant and has application they start to come alive and realize that this is why they are in school. These examples increase the ROI for the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Diana, This is critical information to have as it can help you shape the way you plan your instructional delivery and select content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gina, I know you are going to be excited about being recharged and helping your students to get over the mid-course slump. Have fun with your efforts and get your students excited about the second part of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Violet, By having such a guide you will be able to stay on target in terms of assignments, projects and announcements that your students need to know about in order to complete the course requirements. With so many distractions in our teaching lives it is easy to overlook something without a list or guide. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Bernard, Reinforcement and repetition are two to the best ways to get greater content retention with students. Your strategy is helping that to happen with this approach and I am sure your students appreciate it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robert, This is a very good point. If you don't look outward or are wiling to listen to new ideas then the options from which you can chose to solve a problem are limited. The skill that needs to be developed is the ability to think through and then select the best option for that problem based upon the information you have collected. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, This is a very good point. I think an instructor needs to have passion for his or her field and enthusiasm for teaching about it. Both of these elements help to contribute to the excitement that students can experience and that is when being a learning leader takes on a whole new level. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
MacDameon, This is a good point. What are some strategies you use to keep your focus on both your students and the content you are delivering without getting in a rut? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Elaine, Good idea! Like how you shared a teachable moment that required movement. Little things like this is what keep students engaged and focused for the duration of class sessions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
