Activity

George, Good point that students need to realize. They are in school to develop the knowledge and skill needed to be successful and make money. They need to understand that to make money they are going to have to work hard and acquire a skill set that will be profitable to themselves and their employer. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
JOHN, This is such a great way to start a class off. I have over 300 students each new session so I have to work hard to personalize my interaction with them while keeping the class moving forward. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Soneka, Respect is two ways and must be earned by both parties. You make a good point about how this can be done and why it is so important. Respect is the foundation upon which respect is developed and learning enhanced. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ed, Good point. The key is to be consistent in how you manage them and their role or lack thereof in the classroom or lab. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jean, You have put together a great instructional package. Your approach gives your students many opportunities to develop their technical and soft skills in relation to their career choice. Thank you for sharing these comments with us. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lori, So true and so important for the learning leader to model whenever student contact is made. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Glenn, Good examples to share with others so reinforce how important a supportive learning environment really is for students. We need to see the classroom/lab through their eyes and then make adjustments to assist the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michael, Good for you. My students do not like doing research either yet it is essential in the problem solving process because you need to have a foundational knowledge as to why a solution will or won't work in a particular situation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michael, Well put and right on target in terms of how critical thinking and problem solving can be developed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Greg, With students like this I assign everyone questions to respond to. I list the questions on the screen and then call on the assigned student to respond. By giving them the questions before hand each student can organize his or her thoughts and come up with an answer. Takes a lot of pressure off of the shy students but still gets them to contributing to the class discussions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
