About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

George, Keep this as a goal for yourself throughout your teaching career and you will do fine. I have been teaching for many years and I still look for new and better ways to be a more effective instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cornella, Yes it does and the results are great in terms of knowledge acquisition. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tina, Good way to "read" your students and get a feel for their knowledge and skill levels. As you say as a result of this information you are able to make adjustments as needed to keep the learning moving forward. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jack, Great to hear how the course content has been of help to you. I am excited for you as you bring your career experience to the classroom and lab to help prepare the next generation in your field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ashley, I think this is very important because once they are in the workplace they are going to have to be able to receive information in many different formats. The more experience they have in doing this the better. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ashley, The more senses we can get the students to use in the learning process the better. It is proven that integration of senses increase content retention and skill development so keep up the good work of using these different learning venues. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michelle, Passion for one's field and enthusiasm for teaching about it is essential. When we bring these two elements to class our students get excited and increase their engagement in the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Discussion Comment
Michelle, Good point. Feedback is how we bring about instructional improvement and growth. The more feedback we have the more we can integrate value into the courses we teach. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nick, Staying current is a must because you are impacting the future of your students through the content you share with them. It needs to reflect the standards of the field if they are to leave the course with the knowledge and skill set needed to be competitive. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
