I find that it's imparative that we as educators stay on our game plan in order to be better prepared for our students. We are the leaders and we are the ones who are leading by example. If we are not leading by example, our students will think less of us and in the long run they will not respect us as educators. I enjoyed this module as it reminds us the importance of staying one step ahead of our students. Glenn

Do you perfer open or closed questions to your students?

I like to use an exercise where i have them think how the food item is processed before they receive it. Example we all know that ketchup comes from tomatoes, but what type of tomato? Where are they grown at? What are the initial processes that this product has to go through before we receive it. The results can be quite rewarding to both the students and the instructor.

I have a question of need to all of you. Lets say that you have a class of students who are angry and frustrated with the schools policies and brings this negative energy into the classroom every day. We do our best to keep the energy positive, but in the end it always turns negative. Could it be a case of senioritis or a case of why bother anymore.

I find that by acknowledging students who follows your direction well and meets the competencies goes a long way in boosting their morale. But i only allow them to cherish that moment for that short moment so that they do not become over confident of themselves.

Often times we have a student who has special needs and many times we are not capable of assisting these student of need. How does one accomodate these needs while trying to dedicate your time equally amongst your class? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Glenn

It's imparative to lay all of your cards on the table so that your students have a better understaning of your goals and expectations for them.

I find that by keeping everything real without any hidden surprizes will make your student successful in all they do. As educators we must adhere to the syllabus and stay within the guidelines of the school. It also gives you more respect as a role model. Glenn

Along with other classroom guidelines we should also be sure that we are communicating clearly and accurately to our students. I find that we will all encounter a student who does not fully understand the subject of discussion, and this is where we must be able to re-analyze our own thought process and explain it in a way for that student to fully understand. Glenn

I find that once you have empowered your students to take control of the subject manner once they have fully understood the theory and methodology, they are less afraid of applying these same techniques to other cooking applications. Glenn
