About me

James is the Senior Associate at JAJ & Associates, Adjunct Faculty and eLearning Consultant at MaxKnowledge and member of the Board of Advisors of Dream Catchers Global. James was the Associate Provost of Faculty Development, President of the Online Division at Harrison College and the Director for the Center of Technology Resources for Indiana Business College. Because of his extensive background in technology and his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for assisting aspiring business owners, James has provided his leadership/project management skills in many start-up operations mentoring dozens of young leaders over his career. All providing great growth opportunities for his stakeholders.

James has developed more than 50 courses and dozens of programs in the areas of technology, business, progress management and general education. James has been an instructor for more than 15 years during which time he provided training to over 500 trainers and more than 5000 students. His academic background includes a Masters of Education in Occupational Training and Development and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation in Higher Education Administration emphasis on Strategic Enrollment Management. James enjoys working with students and assisting them through complex concepts which he is able to turn into easy to understand and usable skills.

colby, a little silence can go a very long way and also allows for a potentially volatile situation to simply resolve itself. For those times when silence does not work it is good to be ready to take things to the next level but regardless you should always focus on the well being of the overall class. Thanks for sharing. Arlissa, great post and is a good reminder to all of us that as teachers we are also need to be experts on assisting students with career choices. No one knows more about our subject matter than we do so it is critical we remain close to our subject areas and what jobs are available and which skills are needed for students to be relevant. Samuel, great post. Students can easily detect which instructors are passionate about the subject matter and them as individuals. They also remember which instructors are part of graduation ceremonies and tend to relate such information to their friends that are still in school or may be attending school in the near future. Ty, great post. The more revision you can add to the overall course the more students will remember. It is also important to relate facts to story lines and help students build the mental pictures they need to assist in the recall of individual pieces of information. James Jackson

Javaid, well stated and the solution will take more than one dimension. First and foremost the instructor must invest in their students and take the time to get to know their strengths and weaknesses. This can take time so it is vital that the course design allows for some time to allows the students and the instructor to get to know each other. Some instructors will use a written survey instrument that in some way emulates a testing format. By allowing students to answer questions about things they know well such as themselves then the testing structure is obviously not… >>>
