Milagros, Great awareness! This happens to all of us! Now tthat you are aware you do this, what can you do to prevent it? Dr. Jean Norris
Milagros, Yes..that's not a good feeling at all is it? Given is, how might this awareness impact your listening with your students? Dr. Jean Norris
Thomas, I'm sure it can be frustrating when you go through all the detailed information and then the prospective student doesn't recall. One thing that may be helpful is to vary the method you use to give information. For some people they need to SEE the information to understand it. Others need to HEAR it and then you have those who learn/take in information best by doing something (FEEL). If you can match their preferred "style" it will help them retain the information. Does this help? Dr. Jean Norris
Antonio, Nice touch! Sometimes those "little things" make a BIG difference. Keep up the great work! Dr. Jean Norris

Thomas, Great insights again! I think everyone does a little bit of pre-judgment however perhaps there are some other "clues" that people give off that will tell you more about them without judgement. Dr. Jean Norris
Dan, That is a great solution that may really have an impact on helping you focus. It is hard with distractions however by limiting those...you can make your face-to-face communication stronger. Great insight! Dr. Jean Norris
Antonio, It definitely sounds as if you have a number of methods to reach your students to help them. How's it working for you? Dr. Jean Norris

Thomas, Very well said. How do you tell the difference between reading people from "experience" or pre-judging though? It can be a slippery slope. Dr. Jean Norris
Chloe, Interesting! Do you have a specific example of when you did this? Dr. Jean Norris
Jessica, Wow! It sounds like you definitely are in the right career field! Great awareness! Dr. Jean Norris
