James, Thanks for this post. What are some specific things you do in class to show you are paying attention? Jeffrey Schillinger
James, Greeting students outside the classroom can be significant. Jeffrey Schillinger
Madelyn, This is a nice idea, but I am not sure how well these types of "bring em back" programs really work. We have found that making sure school is interesting and fun throughout the term is the most effective way to ensure students come back. We still do these types of things, but more as a thank you than for retention. Jeffrey Schillinger
Beatrice, I am uncertain what you mean by "negative attitude about their goals." Please provide a couple of examples. Thanks! Jeffrey Schillinger
Deborah, I have found that adults tend to want an instructor to "prove it" before buying in. Jeffrey Schillinger
Stephanie, A simple "hello" and "goodby" are very valuable. Thanks for this post. Jeffrey Schillinger
Stephanie, We have a chance to make a new "first impression" every time we are getting ready to start class. Jeffrey Schillinger
Stephanie, Interesting post. Thanks. What are some of the most common things your students write down related to accountability? Jeffrey Schillinger
