Scott,I think the most serious consequence is the loss of a student but I agree with what you are saying. James Faulkner
Victor,I'll bet the students feel the same way. James Faulkner

Eliazar, I think you are right. In a sales environment, the associate who is obviously proud of their product they are displaying as they provide the factual data to their client will always do better. Compliance is only one part of the sales formula. It is the part we use to prevent harm to the student or the school. The student should make decisions based upon their value judgement of the facts. We get into trouble with the consequences when the student believes we knew but failed to provide facts important to their values. James Faulkner
Sonia, I agree with you. Regulations designed to keep our students safe are only as good as we allow them to be. As professional educators serving in faculty or staff roles we must remain current on the rules and ensure we are applying them in an effective manner. James Faulkner
Nancy, I think the course was designed to reflect on the many compliance rules and our mission statement as it applies to the student. The result is a trusting student who is able to make decisions about their education based on facts. James Faulkner

Greg, Would it also lead to a possible student belief that we were unable to provide accurate information or that we may be hiding something? And in turn would that lead to a lost enrollment because they did not trust the rep? Later when the student finds out the information was available but not accurately provided would it cause a loss of trust and confidence in the school? James Faulkner

Greg,I think the words "fair" and "random" have different meanings to different people. When we deal with words like trust, respect, and honesty we are doing so believing that we own the universal definition. Our fair simply is not someone elses. Under the federal guidelines, it is the student's belief that they were coerced to provide a testimonial that is measured and while they may not have felt coerced at the time they may feel coerced later. I do not have a problem with a student who totally volunteers a testimonial, but then I would be concerned about the content… >>>

Eliazar,I think it is important to transparently present facts to a student and let the student weight the facts as they see fit to enroll or take some other action. Student trust in our school(s) and in our associates is based on solid, documented data. When we use something other than documented facts we may mislead our student and cause student distrust. James Faulkner
Wesley, I agree. Associates often get into trouble by answering a question they do not understand or by taking shortcuts through superlatives. James Faulkner
lisette,I agree. It can become a serious problem when we realize how prevalent identity theft is. Additionally, students are asked to provide their personal information to us for testing, financial aid and academic purposes. If we use the information for other than the intended use we violate the trust of the student and may expose our school to civil law suits or to federal sanctions against the school. James Faulkner
