Tiffany,protecting personal information in this technilogical age can become difficult. Each of us need to be aware of the personal data we use and ensure it is not getting out. It can be a simple as closing a student file on the computer while talking to another student in the office or looking at your desk and ensuring no student data is left on it. James Faulkner

Xanthe,FERPA covers personal data collected by the campus. A student who voluntarily provides their personal data to others is not covered. It is their personal information to use as they see fit. James Faulkner

Xanthe,are they not the same thing in a service industry? Our needs are to take care of our students, to professionally perform our jobs. Our mission statement and knowledge and application of compliance with its diverse regulations, policies and procedures define who we are as professionals.
