Anne-Patricia, Terrific points! Thanks for your input :) Jane
Case studies are an excellent assessment method; especially for graduate-level courses. Do you think they would also be useful for assessing the progress of students at the undergraduate level also? :) Jane
You bring up some good, and bad, points about synchronous discussions. Time constraints, especially with adult learners, and time zones can also make synchronous chat difficult. In light of your comments abour asynchronous discussions; do you think that they have the potential to lead to "deeper" learning? :) Jane
Hi Anne-Patricia, It seems that your requirements are a good education, at an accredited institution, and good grades (transcript required)regardless of whether the classes were online or held in a traditional classroom setting. Am I right? Do you think that there are some qualities that online learners possess that would make them good employees? I am interested in your thoughts :) Jane
I did... so sorry
Excellent points! It seems that the more detailed you are with your vision for the course, the more useful a course design specification document will be. Thanks for your input :) Jane
Peter, You bring up some terrific points in your post. The misunderstandings to which you refer can also happen with a poorly prepared Course Design Specification. An alternative method would be for the developers to create a prototype, which would be improved upon through iterations. What do you think of this method as opposed to creating the specification document. Would it save time? :) Jane
Peter, The assessment methods you are using are appropriate for your course. Do your students get more than one attempt at the quizzes? Just curious :) Jane
Peter, Good point! Community building is very important to online learning. You mentioned that time is one challenge to synchronous methodologies. Can you think of other challenges to both synchronous and asynchronous learning? I am interested in your thoughts :) Jane
Paul, This answers my question in your other post... Thanks, Jane
