Dave, This is fine as long as progress is evaluated at least every eight weeks. Graduation requirements usually include: the student satisfactorily pass all courses and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. JP Mehlmann

Dave, I don't see a requirement for industry certifications on the TWC CSC instructor application form. Is that an internal requirement for your school? JP Mehlmann
Discussion Comment
Jimmy, That sounds like a good backup plan, as long as the instructors are qualified per TWC CSC rules, for every course taught. JP Mehlmann
Discussion Comment
James, That sounds within the TWC CSC rules. What are your requirements for graduation? Also, if visited by the CSC, you might be asked to provide documentation of advising and/or other actions taken for students not meeting the progress policy. JP Mehlmann

Minnie, Usual graduation requirements include some variation of the following: passing each course, cumulative GPA of 2.0, attendance of 80% of the program, and completion within 150% of the normal time to complete. JP Mehlmann
Minnie, Good answer. It also helps to have other people review the application prior to sending. JP Mehlmann
Thomas, It would be great if all graduates maintained positive communication with the school. Unfortunately, some do not and in today's environment, 1 placement could make the difference between meeting or missing the required employment rate. Maintaining a positive relationship throughout the student's training is the first step to maintaining communication after they finish their training. Periodically, updating all their references can help find them later. Some schools use incentives for the graduate to stay in touch and/or report their employment status - be sure any incentives are company/legal dept. approved. JP Mehlmann

Thomas, Keep in mind that the TWC rules state any program in excess of 200 clock hours, progress must be evaluated at least every eight weeks. For credit hour programs, evaluation of a student's progress comes at the midpoint and end-of term for academic semester or academic quarter or at least every eight weeks. JP Mehlmann

Harvey, I agree except that there may be exceptions such as career fields that do not have corresponding degrees available. Exception is the key word. Variance requests should be rare. JP Mehlmann

Thomas, In this situation, first, I suggest you thoroughly describe the prior duties to see where the person's experience matches the course(s). Another suggestion is to obtain correspondence from the former employer of the candidate, attesting to their competencies. In this regard, a job description from the former employer could help document your candidate's qualifications. JP Mehlmann
