Stephanie, Great post! You are right communication is so important particularly in the online environment. We have to be upfront about this with students. It can be tricky about availability. You don't want to be online 24 hours in a day. I actually have a weekly rotation of office hours that I set at the beginning of the course. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

J., I set it up through a discussion board and had a 36 hour window. I found when I do this online, there has to be communication to help facilitate the success of the exercise. Everyone has to know the window of opportunity and be ready to interact within that window. I did find students did prep for the discussion better. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
