Laurie, It does require planning but it doesn't mean it can't be done. I have found when I change my f2f to online, I improve my f2f class also. I think we give too much credence to f2f. I have had some f2f courses that were not very good both as me the student and me the instructor! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Laurie, You have a good perspective regarding your course. I find it interesting your comment about the technology be sophisticated. I think that can be very important for the look and feel of the course. The more you look organized and together the more comfortable your students will be. I know that sounds goofy but it is true! Earl, I find that many of my alumni and business people particularly the under 40 set are using social media for their primary networking. They communicate research through blogs, they communicate in the office through microblogging and texting, they network outside of the office through media such as LinkedIn. Our students are getting their interviews and their internships through social media. I actually have a coupe of students that have a company that uses social media entrepreneurially.
