Most of the students we get here are hands on learners. They have been around cars and that is why they choose this course.

Showing you really care that the student is attending your school is very important in maintaining their retention.

If you show the students you really do care that they stay it would help immensely. They need to be more than just a number in the system.
Responce: Statistics and examples. Trying to get a job without the best education is like showing up to a gun fight with a knife. Anyone using the economy to NOT look for a job is just lazy and would find another reason for not working.
Can you tell the at risk student from those who really don't care or want to be there? I hope so, it's very important identifying the at risk student. Once identified you then have to find away to help them without hurting their self esteem. Good luck!
Most educators can tell the difference between an at risk student or someone who is not really interested. Neither student will ask for help but you can tell by their mannerisms if they are truly struggling. Our job is to get them to open up and help them without hurting their self esteem. Easier said then done.
Attrition has a way of finding out who is truly committed. Not everyone is cut out to be a doctor, lawyer or Indian Chief. Those who are truly committed won't become a statistic of attrition. They find a way!
Attrition has a way of weeding out those who are not truely committed.
Staying in school and getting more to offer your perspectic employer is always a good idea. Now it's even more important because more people will be applying for fewer jobs. The more you have to offer the better your chances.
One has to be even more marketable during these tough times. Continuing with your education makes you even more marketable. When you do apply for a job you have more to offer the employer.
