This is true Grace! When we can find a way to knock difficult tasks out of our queue, we get them out of our minds too. This can be such a great feeling. So addressing difficult tasks head on is a great investment, even if it's uncomfortable in the short term.
Thanks for sharing Larry! Yes, I can see how this method would apply well to grading in mathematics. It's nice to minimize time spent searching for the answer and maximize time for evaluation and feedback!
Yes, consistency is key with students. When we can appropriately set expectations for how they will be tested and graded, they can focus more of their energy on the course materials and content.
Excellent Patricia! It's important to modify your tasks intermittently. The best interval depends on how much work is coming in to your queue. Sounds like weekly modification will work best for you!
Yikes! That sounds really tough David. A three hour commute is a major time commitment. Some instructors with big commutes try to find productive things to do with their time while driving. Listening to books on tape is one example.
Sounds like you have a great system Larry. I like how you set out to run three times a week. It is not always possible to dedicate time every single day but we do what we can to make exercise happen!

That sounds really tough Kori. Some moments in life are really stressful. The stress is temporary - lasting a few months and then subsiding. It's hard to see how things will get better when you are in the thick of it. Stay strong.
That's tough Kori. With math, there is usually one solution to each problem - but the back end process of computing the answer is often important to see. There are some disciplines that are harder to grade than others.

Adult learners can be hard to work with Sheila. They often have complicated schedules and complex lives. We often have to spend more time as instructors helping them overcome many obstacles to learning. This can be stressful!
Sounds like you are already implementing effective grading strategies Jerry. Great to hear! These methods likely open up more time in your calendar for focusing on things like office hours and addressing other student needs.
