Vickie, That's a great approach. It's nice to focus on what could be instead of what is. Focusing on what is is often quite unproductive and disappointing too. Dr. Melissa Read
June, The number system works great. Go ahead and give it a try if you need more detail than high, medium and low can offer. Dr. Melissa Read
Linda, It sounds like you have found wonderful direction. I'd love to hear a follow up on how your list making is working for you. I know it requires a little energy up front but it can pay off significantly in the end! Dr. Melissa Read
Sonia, You've mentioned a lot of outlets here. This is fantastic. It sounds like you have already developed a wonderful strategy for coping with stress and a wonderful approach. It's great to have that foundation and to build upon it as well. Dr. Melissa Read
Sherry, Yes it's really important to keep your list up to date. Otherwise it is not very useful! Dr. Melissa Read
Holly, Crossing tasks off can give us such a wonderful sense of accomplishment. It's easy to forget how much we have accomplished when everything is not on paper. Dr. Melissa Read
Eugene, That sounds like a good plan. People who struggle with the challenge of immediacy are often effective in their roles but very stressed. Spreading things out and taking the time to do things right can help with both productivity and balance. Dr. Melissa Read
Holly, This is a pretty normal behavior and process for people who are list makers. Knocking a few items off your list can feel motivating and rewarding, giving you the confidence to handle the rest. Dr. Melissa Read
Kristen, Those both sound like productive coping mechanisms. I am glad to hear they are working so well for you. I am curious to learn about the exercises that are working best for you. Dr. Melissa Read
William, Large class sizes demand efficient grading systems. For classes of 100+, I definitely recommend multiple choice and I also recommend secure online grading. For smaller classes, we can get away with essay and short answer formats to more deeply test knowledge. Dr. Melissa Read
