Shannon, You bring up an important point. Some people like to separate work and personal tasks into two lists. Others feel more productive when they can see both lists at once. In the end, it comes down to what you feel most comfortable with and what works best for you. Dr. Melissa Read
Ronda, I am glad you are getting so much out of this class. I should note that it’s ok to accomplish a few easy tasks before moving on to the more complex ones. Easy tasks can be great confidence builders, we just can’t fill our entire queue with them all the time. Dr. Melissa Read
Khalid, Cheating can be a real problem in college settings and that’s unfortunate. You are right. Sometimes asking people how they arrived at solutions can be much more productive when testing knowledge when compared to asking for final answers. Dr. Melissa Read
Heather, Sounds like an efficient system and one that facilitates learning in new ways too. I should note that it's ok to have the students use a code number instead of their names to identify themselves on their papers. This way, friends have less of a chance of figuring out whose paper they are grading! Dr. Melissa Read
Renita, Sometimes it is better to use the carrot when compared to the stick, but I certainly appreciate your humor! Classroom situations can be stressful indeed. Dr. Melissa Read
Rita, Nice! So happy to hear that you are able to make time for you. We don't all have that luxury. I can see how going to church and movies are both great escapes. Dr. Melissa Read
Mark, It's wonderful to find a great radio talk show that we can count on each morning on our commute. Brings interest to our days and often new perspective that we can take with us and use productively in the workplace. Cycling certainly helps too. Like so many hobbies, cycling is a great way to experience so much of what the world has to offer. Dr. Melissa Read

Steven, It sounds like you are living with stress from multiple sources. That can be tough. If there is time, you might enjoy taking a break from it all for a few moments a day. Some people try yoga or meditation. Others try breathing. Interestingly, your commute from home to work could be the perfect getaway in that you are neither here nor there. Dr. Melissa Read
Ron, That sounds like a great approach. Mixing up questions is especially helpful when deeply testing knowledge. Rubrics streamline grading, but also keep it consistent and fair. Dr. Melissa Read
Ron, These are two great approaches. Thanks for sharing. Yes, it's especially helpful to talk with people who are in your same situation and experiencing similar challenges. Dr. Melissa Read
