David, Interesting to hear about play time. I think it's appropriate for adults and not just children. Sometimes we just need a fun outlet to take our minds off things. Sounds like you have some outlets you really enjoy! Dr. Melissa Read
Olaolu, Excellent to hear. Yes, if you've served in the military, it is likely that you have received great training in the area of organization. Dr. Melissa Read
Kate, That sounds like a great approach. Many instructors cannot get motivated to complete the most important tasks first. This does lead to extra stress as they worry about priorities that have still not been accomplished. You are lucky enough to have the discipline to take your approach. Dr. Melissa Read

Tatiana, That's a tough question to be dealing with. In this economy, the potential for job loss is often top of mind for instructors. I recommend always having a backup plan, especially if you are noticing class sizes are unusually low. Dr. Melissa Read
Tonya, So true. By hand analysis can take forever and really doesn't add value when grading multiple choice questions. It sounds like you no longer have access to that scantron machine. That's got to be tough. Dr. Melissa Read

Herman, Really interesting to hear and you are not alone. Some instructors actually feel that work is an outlet or place to cope with their personal lives. Some of us are simply blessed with peaceful work environments and we have a lot to be thankful for! Dr. Melissa Read
Karyn, Excellent to hear. Exercise and talking things out are both great ways of coping with stress - especially when we can't manage stress any other way! Dr. Melissa Read
Stephen, I really love your thinking on YouTube! What a great approach to unwind. I love how this outlet is free and accessible through any digital device. Dr. Melissa Read
Robert, Interesting challenge and one that many instructors face. Some keep their home lives very organized but their personal lives are a mess. Others are just the opposite. This shows us that we are not always consistent in our approach to time and task management. Dr. Melissa Read
Charles, It's easy to get thrown off by curve balls like students and administrators with challenges. Sometimes dealing with them immediately is in fact the best choice. However, it's wise to stop and think for a moment about how critical their needs are and what the true priorities are. For example, procrastination on their part should not necessarily equal urgency on your part. Dr. Melissa Read
