Julie, Excellent! Sometimes the content in this course simply validates direction, and that's a good thing. It's nice to know we are on track. Dr. Melissa Read
Ajani, So true. You don't have to completely change your approach. At a guess, your approach has gotten you pretty far in life and there are probably a lot of things you are doing right. Dr. Melissa Read
Victoria, Thanks for sharing. Yes, sometimes streamlining grading takes an initial investment. It can feel a little overwhelming to start, but once we get into the swing of things, we move at a much faster pace. Online grading tools do require a learning curve but are well worth the effort! Dr. Melissa Read
David, Excellent to hear. It's a delicate balance that may take some time to learn. On one hand, you want to make sure your questions are robust enough to deeply test knowledge. On the other hand, try to streamline things so that you can be efficient in getting the grading done. Dr. Melissa Read
Jason, Yes, electronic testing is a wonderful help to instructors. It typically offers online test administration, grading and score reporting. Some online testing also provides sample questions and answers. This is a wonderful tool that enhances both the instructor and student experience. Dr. Melissa Read
Robert, So true. It is far too easy to become consumed with the drama. Sometimes taking a step back and just a little time for ourselves is the only way we can move forward without getting too consumed with the challenges of the day. Dr. Melissa Read
Alan, Excellent to hear. At times, we just need a little reinforcement on direction. Many of us already have coping mechanisms that we rely on, and that's how we've gotten as far as we have in our lives. Dr. Melissa Read
Trevor, I completely understand where you are coming from. As instructors, we have to balance tasks that are coming from many different sources. Some are higher priority than others and that's how we ultimately decide which ones to complete, but it can be tough. Dr. Melissa Read
Mohan, Yes, that's one way to approach it. Another is to find a way to become a little more productive during that commute time. You can try things like music, books on tape or even taking a call if that is permitted in your state. These things don't make the commute any shorter, but may help make the time feel like it's passing faster. Dr. Melissa Read
Ron, Yes, easier said than done though sometimes. Sometimes we have too many priority tasks. When this is the case, it becomes difficult to figure out which one to do ASAP and which ones to wait on. That's what makes list making so important. Dr. Melissa Read
