I agree. Personality types can accomplish the tasks better suited for their personality type. I used to follow this same strategy with employees at the grocery store I managed. The Smokers were excellent cleaners, while the nonsmokers were better at ringing up customers at the registers without many breaks. Smokers could smoke as much as they wanted. It seemed to be a win-win.

Successful learner personality traits are described as curious, accepting of failure, diligent, motivated to develop their own learning, questioning, and sharing.

I'm blue and orange. I am aware of what my best and worst qualities can affect my teaching.

Personality tests show similar characteristics a person may identify with. This is a tool we can use for improving Insturcor student and student-to-student communication.

I must make sure my online course is well constructed with the students facilitating their learning instead of talking the whole time. Also must be aware of being clear in my instruction. This can be relieved with a rubric. I should outline the expectations of my breakout discussions.

Students qualities to be successful in an online course:

  • Open-mindedness
  • Communication (written and verbal)
  • Self-motivation
  • Self-discipline
  • Time management
  • Computer competency
  • Critical thinking
  • Teamwork

Communication needs to be consistent and in a pattern. So that students learn your habits and expectations.

Technology should be varied, i.e., one on one, small and large group and it should not hinder the teaching process... it should enhance it.

Graphics reinforce the saying that “a picture is worth a thousand words.”  Graphics can become visual mnemonics, increasing the retention of content while increasing student focus on what is being taught.

Quizzes are given multiple times as an opportunity for self-evaluation. They will see on higher-stakes tests to practice the questioning while the exams are only provided once.
