Interesting learning about the licensing requirements depending on the type of institution ad also how tuition recovery works similar to an insurance policy.  I did not realize that student testimonials being an area of abuse, but that does make sense.  I had no idea of the amount of fines when required disclosures are not in compliance. Good to see the requirements for what should be included in the school's catelog/website.

It was interesting learning about recruitment activities and restrictions, such as locations and that public offices are prohibited. I did not know that Job placement scrutiny could be based on the prospect’s choice of schools or programs.

Interesting to learn about expectations for programs and they do not have to guarantee membership or certification.

Learned the impact of when misrepresentation occurs and the penalties and how a student would be affected to obtain Title IV funds.

So far this has been important information to follow as it pertains to the rules and regulations for compliance.  It was interesting to see how Title IV has changed and to learn the requirements students need for eligibility.  Knowing there could be a Mystery Shopper was interesting, but makes sense.  I was surprised to learn of the 42K plus penality fine for the DNC registry.  Makes one wonder why anyone would not comply.  Another surprise was that the CAN-SPAM act does not cover bulk email.  I found this Module to be very informative.

This module presented valualbe information regarding proper and effective communication with students.  The importance of record keeping and how to counsel via email.  The suggestions for how to handle the different types of learners was helpful.  It was good to hear ways to reduce attrition.  I will be using the ideas for record keeping.  Very good and helpful module.

It was interesting learning the difference between asynchronous and synchronous discussions. This gave me a deeper understanding as to why synchronous discussions should not be utilized for critical course content.  The list of learning styles was interesting and how to help the three types of learners that are avoidant, competitive and dependent. It was good to hear how to encourage and identify the shy learner.

It was interesting learning classroom strategies to keep students engaged.  I found the suggestion to email schedule reminders one that I will begin to incorporate.  I do post a short bio of myself, but appreciated the suggestion of having the students provide a brief bio.  Knowing the student better will be beneficial with establishing  trust and a relationship with each student.

This module reiterated how important it is know the components of the CMS and roles of the online instructior.  The information also brought more awareness to the specifics of what an online instructor should pay close attention to, e.g. posting grades timely, giving students feedback in a reasonable amout of time, deadlines for submitting mid-term/final grades.  It was good to review the charactertistics of a quality online course.
