Jane-- This sounds like a very effective methodology. I really like that you allow the students to express their fears about the subject matter; it is an opportunity to reinforce that they are taking the class to learn it...and are not expected to know it already! Susan
David-- Awesome! Addresing those fears up front, discussing them and 'proving' they can be overcome (via your successful student stories) is a wonderful way to get student to relax. Susan
Cristina-- This is great! Having students work on and stay focused on their end goal (employment) from the very beginning is a great way to keep them motivated and remind them why they are there to being with. Kudos! Susan
Melissa-- I think the survey idea is a great one and could be used very effectively from admissions through graduation. Hope you are able to make that sale! Susan
Marjorie-- This sounds like a great format. If I'm reading this correctly, the speakers come to each classroom where students of the same major are, correct? This is a wonderful way to get the students bonding immediately. Susan
Dawn-- I agree...it is much more comfortable to introduce yourself to one person rather than a group. And, having that person then talk about you to the group is less intimidating. It is wonderful that often the rest of the class is then curious enough to ask even more questions. Susan
Amber-- Great idea about including fun facts that are also informational and helpful... Susan
Donna-- Two very great ideas! Thanks for sharing. Susan
Amanda-- These are all great things to know and information that students tend to keep to themselves. So finding out about this type of information is a show of confidence in the institution. Susan
Desharla-- Wondeful use of the technology everyone is using! Facebook can be a great way for them to connect with you and each other...and former students. Susan
