Rick-- This is really an excellent example of helping students succeed. Congratulations! Susan
Dennis- It certainly sounds like you have a great program. The team building is an excellent way to break down the barriers. Susan
Sally-- Involving current students is an excellent idea. I bet they enjoy it and I know the new students probably appreciate the opportunity to get the 'inside scoop'! Susan
Dennis--- Your online learning center sounds very interesting. Is this a database of resources? How does it work? Susan
Robert-- You make a very important observation here about the attitude of our current generation. Failure isn't really something that is a motivator so much because, as you point out, they haven't really experienced the consequences of that. On the job, however, failure has real consequences. It is our responsibility to try and acquaint them with those realities. Susan
Stanely-- This is a great idea. I think having these discussions so everyone can learn is wonderful. Many times other students can offer some excellent advice and also be great emotional resources. Susan
J-- After students have been there a while, the fatigue sets in. If you are near the end, then you have 'senioritis' to deal with. Do you have any specific techniques to keep students engaged? Susan
Edward-- This is great and I am sure gets them 'in the mode' for coming prepared. No one likes to feel like they don't know what they are doing, and it sounds like you address a lot of that in your orientation. Great job! Susan
Donald-- Sounds like a great agenda and well thought-out. I really like the interaction activities and the inclusion of faculty and students. Susan
William-- Sounds like you do a lot the first week to make people comfortable and acclimate to your institution. Great job. Susan
