Todd- Your point about seeking help from the tutors is true. Most students have this perception that only 'dummies' go there. In fact, good students should seek help whenever they have a problem or want another set of eyes on things before they turn them in. Getting rid of that stigma is important. Susan
Hank-- This is a great idea! Having students commit to paper their goals and motivations helps them to better understand why they are there. Susan
Tim-- This sounds like a good agenda. I especially like bringing them back on day two for the 'Student Support' presentation. This is great timing as they may have already encountered some difficulties. Susan
John-- That's great that you specifically work to provide them opportunity to succeed. Doing that does, in fact, build their confidence and that can make a huge difference. Susan
John-- This is also a great opportunity to educate them further as to the differences of the certifications and what they can mean to their career. Great job. Susan
Steven-- This sounds like a great exercise to get them acquainted with their new classmates. Susan
James-- Sounds like you have all the important areas available. Susan
Mark-- These are all excellent points. Isn't it interesting how there is this anti-rule mentality these days? Pointing out that you, too, have to follow the rules and inviting them to point out when you are not is a great environment. Susan
Eric-- I really like the idea of having other instructors come in so students can meet them. That's a great practice. Susan
Kim-- I couldn't agree more. For many reasons, hearing from their peers (other students and/or alumni) is the most effective. Susan
