Activity

Increasing my understanding of my presence in the classroom beyond developing a relationship with students, and participating in asynchronous discussion board posts to more intentionally include a projection of authority is an area where I can grow. While I do believe that the quality of my interactions reflect the authority that I have in the content area, it is not always a given that students make this connection. I will revisit my bio and add text to the video as a starting point.

I want to continue seeing the learning platforms that I use through the eyes of the student. In my subject area, there are rarely words, phrases, concepts, and activities that I am unfamiliar with or cannot fairly quickly makes sense of in context. This is not true of learners who often step into worlds in which almost all of the words phrases etc. etc, are foreign. The simplicity of presentation, the organization of material, and providing modules where small steps can be given focus and completed successfully can be beneficial.

It is very helpful to see larger frameworks and structures that are unseen or taken for granted. For example simply noting characteristics of online courses as having structural integrity, navigational simplicity, intellectual interaction, and active learn-centered learning is beneficial. Between the personal tendencies and /or the learning challenges within a given course, keeping these kinds of frameworks and structures in mind and in balance can require intentionality and purposefulness.
