About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Richard, I completely agree that this is an excellent way to evaluate as we can tie specific assessments to each role. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Minnie , this is a great approach, setting that expectation for accountability early on, this way there is no mystery as to what is expected. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Judy, this is so true & a lesson that was pounded into me, to make good firm eye contact. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Richard, I am a firm believer in eye contact for the very reasons you stated. It's a great way to gauge understanding as well as help them feel included. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Gaylene, yes, taking feedback is important & be sure to receive it well when you ask for it. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Diane, and this can open the door for others to share who may be more reluctant. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Scott, I agree with you & this is where I believe we have a great opportunity to educate our students on the appropriate & professional use of these tools, rather than just shying away from them altogether. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Ted, I think this is a great example of the effective use of social networking for educational purposes. I personally would discourage the use "in class" but for these types of activities it can be very helpful. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Heather, these are all great strategies for engaging this generation of learners. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Karen, I agree with your statement & would add that this makes us more able to reach all learners, whether of diverse generations or not. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
