About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Adam, I completely agree & an additional step would be to have roles for each group member. This way they gain experience & realize the various roles that are played in the groups. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Katelyn, this is great & these stories also will help them as they start to face some of the same situations & problems that you share. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Adam, both of your points are great & I like your point about the noise of the equipment. We must always be considering our classes & individual environments & what we can do to best accommodate each situation. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Theresa, this is an excellent point. We are training the "next generation" of professionals, so let's talk to them like professionals & as colleagues. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Lairlyn, I agree & we also need to help them to learn how to evaluate the information & use it in connection with the experience. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Joanne, yes & they can learn to defend their decisions & ideas as well as listen to the ideas & opinions as others through this process. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Susan, and this provides a great opportunity for us to teach our students appropriateness in regard to social networks. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Joanne, these are the kind of situations that unfortunately arise & we have to deal with in this era of technology. I agree that these measures have to be taken to help prevent cheating. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jason, this is a great point & one we can all learn from. I think the key is to demonstrate to Gen Yers that they don't have to use technology in every situation. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
