Dr. Ryan Meers

About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Discussion Comment
Karen, yes, so prevalent in today's work force, that is why I use groups. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Karen, this is a great point as it doesn't matter who "entertaining" or engaging we are, if we are not clear in the valuable information. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Eric, these are all great ideas & ways to help highlight different information & transition during the class. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Eric, taking the time to prepare & plan effectively is key for our teaching improvement. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Antonette, you are right it really does take that extra level of dedication & willingness on the part of the instructor. I like your idea of the early morning tutoring before class as that helps them be fresh & the material is fresh going into class. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Sandra, these are all excellent methods. And really just think of a time when you learned a new subject or skill that wasn't in your strength area & how these methods did help or would've helped you learn the material. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Holly, so true & this is why I like to take the time to explain the purpose of groups as well as make sure that there is a clear delineation of duties so all have a part & role. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
