Dr. Ryan Meers

About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Alexander, this is true & I personally think it's because entertainment does not demand them to imagine & pretend any more. We do have to take this into consideration when we're teaching this generation. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Carrie, this is a good observation & unfortunately all too true. We need to help them learn how to break the words apart so they can be more effective at learning. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Courtney, this is a good example of audience analysis & if you know you have a strong number of a couple of generations you can vary your approach even more. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Catherine, I would say in this situation you are very well in the right in not having any activities involving cell phones in your classes. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Blanca, displaying their work is a great idea as it provides the color & the variety & also inspires the other students for their future work. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Carmen, this is a great way to stay fresh & engaged; I also encourage all of us to stay abreast of current & new teaching techniques. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
melanie, unfortunately this is an all too common situation with many of our students today. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
