About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

CoCintheane, I love your emphasis on helping the students as much as possible. I think the idea of take home major exams is a good one to consider to help those who need the extra time. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

CoCintheane, these are all great methods & steps to make the groups successful; I especially like your covering the nature & purpose of groups, I think this is something we neglect too often. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
CoCintheane, you are so right & this helps the students to see our passion for the material & subject matter. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Ralph, I agree that the aspect of compassion is a key skill. What we want to make sure as leaders/managers is that we accomplish the job as well as treating everyone as people. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Michael, yes, the periodic frequent breaks may feel like wasting time, but really it helps us maximize the instructional time. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Christopher, this is a good point & one for us to consider. While we don't want to use technology just to use it, we should develop a plan for how to incorporate tech into our classes more. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Israel, yes, the music can be a help to many students with the studying & test taking. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Rosana, thank you for transparency. One of the best ways I've found to stay on top of teaching/instructional improvement is to visit with my peers, observe them teaching, & have them observe me. Through this interaction I feel I improve a good amount. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
