Janet, Thank you very much for sharing! I have not used this app myself, I usually have a no phones policy when quizzing students, but for in-class timed group projects this looks like a good app to keep the class on task. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Michael, A fantastic point! Several years ago the open source alternatives really did not play well with MS Office, but in the past couple of years this has not been a problem for me. These applications have a 'Save as Word' feature that allow students to submit work created on these free applications without a hitch. Thank you for sharing. This information can come in handy for many who have been told students cannot submit a paper electronically because they cannot afford the software. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Janet, In your position, I am sure educating students on copyright information and plagiarism is crucial, especially in their first few months as a college student. If possible, please share some links to these resources that you find most useful to students. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Matthew, Having students look up topics on their smartphones and share their findings with the class is a great idea; thank you for sharing this best practice. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Ruth, I also have learned so much from my students over the years and it was at their urging that I began infusing social media into my arsenal of teaching tools. Students are very receptive to the idea because most are so active in the online community. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Michael, I completely agree. Although a learning curve is expected, you do want the benefits to outweigh the investment in time and resources. If you are adopting a technology that will be of great use to you for years to come, it is a wise investment, but when it affects the class negatively and students are drawn away from the topic at hand because they are struggling with the technology, it's use must be reassessed. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt

Scot, I am happy to hear you have been inspired by the course and plan on infusing a Twitter feed into your curriculum. You share an excellent example of how this technology can be useful to students as well as yourself. Please come back and share your experience with the group, I am eager to hear how your students react to the introduction of this resource. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Scot, Thank you for sharing this link with the group! This is a great audience response system that is easy to navigate and use. I have used this myself to create midterm and end of course surveys, collecting student feedback to improve course curriculum and engagement. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Keegan, Thank you for sharing- these are fantastic examples of how Twitter can be an effective teaching and sharing tool outside of the classroom. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Keegan, SlideShare is a good place to store materials, but it an even better place to share materials with others. I would suggest using Google Docs or Drop Box for storing course materials rather than SlideShare, it would be more convenient for you because you would not be limited to uploading only PowerPoints and PDF presentations. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
