Donald, The touch screen LED displays sound like a great investment. This mirrors the latest technology used in smart phones and tablets thused by so many of our students. Do you know what applications will be available to you for your touch screen TVs? Theresa Schmitt
Brent, SlideShare also provides an excellent opportunity for learners to synthesize information and share their knowledge with others. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Romessia, Agreed, a set of guidelines should definately be reviewed, agreed upon, and implimented in class before venturing into social media learning. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Wayne, Skype is a fantastic tool that allows students to engage with experts in their field. I am copying a web link below that lists some additional uses for Skype in the classroom, both traditional and online delivery. http://edudemic.com/2012/11/online-colleges-50-creative-ways-to-use-skype-in-the-classroom/ Theresa Schmitt
Irwin, A great association to belong to! Staying abreast of advancements is key in your field and maintaining this membership is a great way to access publications. The APTA is a proponent of delivering information via social media tools, a fast and effective means of disseminating information. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
Irwin, Yes, Facebook is quite different from the other outlets mentioned here and I agree, a separate account for school and work should be set up when using this social media tool. When studying sociology for example, Facebook is a gold mine; it is knowing when and if it is appropriate that is key. Wishing you continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt

Roberto, Discounts on products and services are a great perk of belonging to professional organizations. Taking advantage of workshops and conventions are just the tip of the iceberg. Often times discounts from select vendors that items that are trade-specific and professional development opportunities through Adobe.com or Lynda.com are included as well. Theresa Schmitt

Roberto, I understand your hesitation and agree a line must be drawn when it comes to sharing tidbits from our personal lives with students. You may want to think of setting up a Twitter account as being analogous to a news feed you may subscribe to through Yahoo or Google. Many professionals in the field leverage Twitter to grow their brand and share ideas with peers and interested consumers of their products and services. As an educator, this is something you do each time you step into a classroom. Sending out little chunks of knowledge between class sessions is a… >>>

Scott, Lots of tools are an instructor’s best asset! Leveraging the myriad of tech-based tools out there allow us to better reach the various learning styles, and with careful planning, keep the objectives of the course consistent across these modes delivery. Best wishes for continued success in the classroom. Theresa Schmitt
