From only seeing your post, it could be determined that you are communicating seriousness or intensity. Unfortunately those words could also indicate unapproachable, stern, grave, grim and humorless. Likewise they could indicate reliability, crucial, vital and fundamental. You may want to ask what others see when they observe you and compare that to how you see yourself and make sure you are communicating what is intended. Just a thought.
As a leader, what do you find is your greatest barrier to successful communication with your group?

Hi Patricia, My biggest mistake as a new instructor was I was too easy at the beginning of the course and then I could not rein them in after I had lost control. I found (quickly) that it is easier to be strict at the beginning of a course and loosen up as time goes on than the other way around. Be clear on the expectations, interpret the rules evenly for all, and follow through with what ever cause and effect was given when giving the expectations. Steve

Describe what you consider to be the biggest classroom mistake you have made. Describe how you have avoided and helped others avoid that same mistake.
What are the adverse effects of poor student monitoring skills? Do you think that you are effectively monitoring your class, why or why not?
What student traits/actions do you personally find most challenging? What do you do to help those students to be less of a challenge and become successful?
What do you do to maintain your status as an Instructional Delivery Expert? What areas do you think most instructors could use help with?

After all, it is their sweat and blood that may seemingly be dismissed; they may take offense to that dismissal. One way to correct this that has worked for me is to identify what is in need of change or development, coordinate all of the stake… >>>

As educators I believe that there is a limit to what we can accomplish in regards to any one particular individual (that is not to say we should not keep trying to help all to the very highest degree). There are an incredible number of outside forces and factors that shape the individuals we have as students. At the minimum, socioeconomics, peer pressures, family situations and immediate gratification satisfaction. We work to continue to develop the lessons, traits and experiences that they have already adopted or have been exposed to. As long as we also continue to develop their pride… >>>
