Key Points
Do an outline of all key points up on the chalk board.
Hi Ashley:
One idea that might work well for many instructors that like to use study guides is suggesting the students be able to "discuss" concepts about a particular topic as discussed in class.
This forces the student to think about the material in many different ways.
Regards, Barry
I think letting the students know what to expect on an exam is a great idea. After all, as instructors we are preparing them for what they will experience in the real world, work setting. I do not think surprises on exams or keeping students in the dark is favorable. I also do not think a copy of the exam should be the study guide. Students should have to study the material in depth to pull from it what they will need for the exam and assignments.
I agree that way the students know whatg they should have learned that class period.
one of th ebest key point are to give a sylabus of the program from the begining so the students can fallow and how and when they will be graded, so in that way they will work acordingly and more efficient
I like this Idea ,In fact I would encourage the students to listen to the lecture with an ear towards what I think might be important enough to be test material.
Hopefully they can cultivate this active listening skill that can be useful in other classes down the line.
