Speak volumes about student comprehension, instructor teaching style and necessary changes for success.
Bette,
Absolutely!. Of course, verbal recognition and encouragement is easier, and in my opinion should be fluid, frequent, and generously applied! More formal feedback does give students a benchmark in time to measure progress to date. With that information, they are able to makedecisions about needed adjustments, or modifications in their study plan.

Students require both verbal and written evaluation/feedback as we all communicate differently.
Charlene,
I think students want and require feedback. They live for points, grade, and supportive comments that suggest they are making positive progress. Yes, instruction is the primary focus, but assessment and evaluation are nearly equally important as well.

All students need and want feedback throughout the length of the course. As an instructor and a parent, how else does a student know how they are doing without feedback.....
Ernesto,
Students want and need feedback. Knowing their progress is key to making needed adjustments or modifying study plans. With good feedback, the path to success should be clearer and understandable. Then, it's up to the student to follow through.
