Student Learning Suffering...
What are common senerios that would cause student learning to suffer? I.E. an instructor teaching for the wrong reason.

Very true. Kind words, caring attitude, courtesy and respect are actions every instructor is capable of proviing, regardless of the topic.

Instructor not focused on individual student learning styles, also not open and/or approachable. There is a need to incorporate positive feedback into all learning activities, objectives and class presentations helping students know they are on the right track and have choosen the educational setting which will help them meet their future goals. A little positive feedback goes a long way in terms of motivating students, building confidence directly associated to helping the student identify,"they they can learn."

I think whenever we waste the students time is applicable. We may feel we are productive, but unless the information is helpful and aligned with the course objectives that will benefit the student, we are taking away valuable time that could be better spent.
