Guest Speakers

In Career Colleges, a guest speaker is a very
important factor for our students. Speakers that
present their "testimony" of how they gained
success, is like an " energy boost" for the student. I always like pros and cons from guest
speakers . It outlines the whole picture of
the career rather than just keeping it one sided. Two thumbs up for guest speakers.

Hi Allan:
Hopefully the guests will validate, or at least not provide contrary information.

I often suggest the teacher give the sseaker a specific area to focus on, or ask that certain topics are covered becasue the students will be tested on that material. Most speakers will be acommodating.

Regards, Barry

I agree - speakers not only boostr the students but they can boost the instructor also because they help validate what we are telling the students. Guest speakers add to our credibility as instructors and the add to the excitement of the students about the course.

Hi Glenn:
Great! It's extremely considerate of you to think about upcoming classes your current students will have to better inform, motivate, excite, and interest them in those future topics.

The best think (for me) is guest speakers can spark the students interest and create a vision of a possible successful future. Wow - few activities have that kind of motivating power!

Hello:

As a former professional speaker (www.GlennBrandonBurke.com), I was often asked to guest lecture, which I loved! To motivate and inspire students to succeed with their education is one of the greatest accomplishments in my life!

Though I spent many years traveling the country as a speaker, I also spent six-years as an adjunct instructor. I used guest speakers on a regular basis, which was always something the students enjoyed.

Now that I'm a full time professor in a career college, I find it just as important to utilize guest speakers. Especially teachers my current students will have in their next course(s) so they will understand what to expect in their next class. It seems to assist the students greatly!

Sincerely,
-Glenn

Hi Ceola:
Boy I agree, there's few activities that match the motivational force and inspiration that a good, energetic, informed guest speaker can bring to the class. Students try harder, and desire to participate more after a guest has visited a class. I'll take that anytime!
