Guest speakers are a great asset to the classroom. It helps students get a look at "the real world" in regards to the field they are studying.
I too enjoy having guest speakers come in. Among the many benefits are the motivational and the re-focuse effect, it can have on students that have become complacent
I love having Guest Speakers. Usually the Guest Speaker says some of the same things I say to reinforce my teachings, because as you know, sometimes we don't get through to the studnets, and if another colleague tells the students the same thing you have, it defintely helps.
It also brings real life experiences into the class, and wakes the students up.
Hi Jennifer:
Guest speakers can also motivate and present a vision for a better future that is possioble for current students. That's a powerful drive, and often, can make the difference in a student just doing average vs superior. Well worth the effort.

I agree, having a Guest speaker who's in the field come in would be very valuable to the students. A person in the field will be able to do an Q/A, as well as help release the anxiety of the students, by having some of their questions they may have answer and think of more to asked.
